He is survived by his wife the former Minnie Berrette; six daughters and one son; Margaret (Mrs Allan McPherson), Antigonish; Christine (Mrs. Leopold LaVoie), Pictou; Isabelle (Mrs. Murdock Landry), Rockdale; Urala [sic] (Mrs. Bernard Cormier), Pictou;
Sadie (Mrs. Raymond Wambolt), Halifax; Agnes (Mrs. Merton Hemphill), Pictou; and Arthur Halifax. There are also 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Remains are resting at home and funeral arrangements were not completed.

The former Alice Isobel Landry, daughter of Mrs. Mary (Barrett) Landry and the late Harold Landry. She is survived by her mother; two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Bill Peacock), Rockdale; Lynn (Mrs. Victor Stone), Lynch's River; three grandchildren, three sisters, Sadie (Mrs. Everett Wambolt), Halifax; Agnes (Mrs. Milton Hemphill), Dartmouth; Margaret (Mrs. Allan McPherson) Antigonish; one brother, Arthur Landry, Halifax. The body has been transferred from the Curry Funeral Home to the family residence in Rockdale. Requiem Mass will be Sunday at 10:30 a.m. from Holy Guardian Angels Church, L'Ardoise. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, three daughters. The body is at the parish centre of Guardian Angel Church, L'Ardoise, where funeral service will be held Wednesday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

St. Peter's - Henry Landry, 64, of Three Island Cover, Died Tuesday. Born in Rockdale he was the son of the late Felix and Lucy (Muise) Landry. Moving to Halifax in 1927, he worked with Purdy Brothers until 1941, when he joined the Halifax Fire Department. He remained with the department until his retirement in 1971. Mr. Landry was a member of St. Stephen's Parish and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Landry, a daughter Lorraine (Mrs. Roland Johnson), Lower Sackville; four sons, Daniel, Summerside, P.E.I.; Pat, Roy and Lawrence, all of Halifax; three sisters; Mrs. Rita Peters, Mrs. Mary Samspon and Mrs. Melinda Lafford, all of Halifax and nine grandchildren. The body is at L'Ardoise Parish Centre, where service will take place 10 a.m. Friday, Rev, G. MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Sampsonville, William A. Landry. 71, of Sampsonville, died Mon in St. Rita Hospital. Born in Sampsonville he was a son of the late Freeman and Catherine (Briand) Landry. Prior to his retirement he was employed with Alex Morrison Funeral Services and previous to that had worked for many years as a cook at the Cosy Corner Restaurant St. Peter's and with Mindamar Metals and Sterling. Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Fougere, a son, Douglas, Sampsonville; a sister, Alice (Mrs. Charles Robertson), Sampsonville; three brothers, Raymond, Grand Greve, Ernest and Abe, both of Sampsonville. He was predeceased by three sisters, Josephine, and two infants. The body is at the home of his son. Funeral will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Medical Centre or any charity.

community organizations. She was past president of Richmond highland
Dancing Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the Scotia
Highland Dancers. She was a member of St. Peter’s Home and School
Association and a lay reader of St. Peter’s Church. She is survived by
her husband, Blair; two daughters, Marlene and Glenda; both at home;
three sons, Ray, Jason and Blaine, all at home; a brother, James Kehoe,
Sydney. The body is at the home in Grand Greve. Funeral will be 2 p.m.

Lawrence. He served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserves from

He was later employed at HMC Dockyard for 31 years until his retirement
in 1986. He was a member of Scotia Branch Legion. He is survived by his
wife, the former Mary Gracie, Lower L'Ardoise; son, Kerry, Prospect; two
daughters, Dale, Herring Cove; Carol (Mrs. John MacDonald), Cow Bay;
four grandchildren; two brothers, James, Halifax; Harold, Collingwood;

Ont.; Martin and Lorraine, Kelowna, B.C.; Leo and Marlene, Kitchener,
Ont.; daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Vernon Keating), Peterborough; Marie,
Halifax, (wife of the late Raymond Armstrong). Dorothy is survived by
sister, Theresa (Mrs. Cyril Myatt), Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Fillie,

LANDRY, Henery Isadore - 92, Rockdale, passed
away July 9, 2001, in Richmond Villa, St. Peter's. He was a son of the
late Isadore and Mini Landry. He is survived by his wife, Margaret;
daughters, Mary Kathleen (Mrs. Wayne Bona) and Sharon (Mrs. Stephen
McNeil); also grandsons, John Bona and Brandon Landry-McNeil. He was
predeceased by his brothers, Wilfred, Murdock, John and sister, Virginia
(Lafford). Henery spent most of his life fishing. He also enjoyed
hunting and trapping. He was a strong willed and determined man who
lived beyond the years most had given him. However, his long fight with
ill health eventually came to an end, may he rest in peace. He will be
laid to rest in L'Ardoise Funeral Home, today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral
will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angel Church, Rev.

LERUE, George Alfred - 86, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday,
October 24, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by his
family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Isaac and Catherine
"Katie" (Martell) LeRoux. He spent his childhood in Cape Breton. George
was a veteran of the Second World War. Throughout his life, George had
been employed as a cabinetmaker for various businesses and later was
self-employed. Later in life, George had also served with the Corps of
Commissionaires. George will be fondly remembered for his sense of
humour, his quick wit, and his love for his family, especially his
grandchildren. He loved to play cards and enjoyed watching baseball. He
is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Muriel (Shute) LeRue. He
will be sadly missed by his daughters, Annette Deagle (James), Timberlea,
and Kay Flinn, Ottawa, Ont.; his sons Mike (Betty) LeRue, Lower
Sackville, and Gordon (Sheila) LeRue, Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Paula
LeRue-Walker (Mark), Cindy LeRue, Betty-Ann Marriott (Grant), Krissy
Flinn, Michael (Michelle) LeRue, Jennifer Flinn (Jasson), and Kassandra

LANDRY, Raymond Martin - 95, Grand Greve. It is with deep sadness that
we announce the passing of Raymond Martin Landry on Saturday, August 13,
2005, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, Richmond Co. Born in
L'Ardoise, Raymond was the son of Freeman and Catherine (Briand) Landry.
He was a Second World War veteran having served with the Merchant Navy.
Upon returning from service, he founded R. M. Landry & Son Ltd. He kept
a keen interest in the business making visits daily. As a devoted member
of St. Peter's Parish, he was instrumental in the building of the
present day church, and also served as a church warden for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St.
Peter's. Raymond is survived by his son, Blair (Carmelita) Landry, Grand
Greve, where he resided for the past nine years; daughter, Ramona (Paul)
MacDonnell, Antigonish. He is also survived by many loving
grandchildren, Paulette (Wayne) Manuel, Maureen (Brian) MacIntyre,
Gregory (Sheila) MacDonnell, Tony MacDonnell, Lisa (John) Dobson,
Lorianne MacDonnell, Maria (Chris) MacDonald, Clare (Brian) Lazzuri,
Marlene (Albert) Sampson, Raymond (Veronica) Landry, Glenda (Stewart)
Munroe, Glenda (Paul) Barrett, Jason (Leigh Ann) Landry, Patricia (Chad)
Mombourquette, Blaine (Ann Burke) Landry, and 19 great-grandchildren. He
is also survived by brother, Ernest (Stella) Landry, and sister, Alice
Robertson, both of St. Peter's. Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his beloved wife, Eunice, 1996; an infant daughter; brothers, Willie
A. (Gertie) Landry, Abe (Ethel) Landry; sister, Josephine (Clifton)
Richards, and two infant grandchildren. Visitation will be held today
from 1-9 p.m. in River Bourgeois Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be
celebrated in St. Peter's Parish, St. Peter's, on Tuesday, August 16, at
11 a.m., Father Duncan MacIssaac officiating. Burial to follow in St.
Peter's Parish Cemetery. Donations in Raymond's memory may be made to
Strait Area or Antigonish Right to Life, Canadian Cancer Society or a

LONGAPHY, Mary Matilda - The death of Mary Matilda Longaphy age 82,
occurred November 21, 2005, in Melville Lodge, Halifax. Formerly of
L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Minnie (Landry)
Pottie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She
is survived by nieces, Viola Aucoin, Sandra Pottie and Mildred Sampson;
several nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; brother,
Hughie; sisters, Theresa, Agnes, Louise, Viola, Mary Elise, and Annie
Mae. Visitation will be held in Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be held in Holy Guardian Angels
Church, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. Barrett Claire-Johnson officiating.

LeRUE, Bernard Joseph - 70, L'Ardoise, died November 23, 1995, in Strait
Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in L'Ardoise, he was a son of the late
Alex and Elizabeth (Mombourquette) LeRue. Surviving are brothers,
Alexander, Clem, Richard, Gerard, L'Ardoise; sisters, Catherine,
Virginia, Annie, L'Ardoise; several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by brothers, Francis, Charlie; sisters, Rose, Margaret.
Visitation 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today in L'Ardoise Funeral Parlour.
Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Guardian Angels Church. Burial in Mount
Calvary Cemetery, L'Ardoise.

LANDRY, Mary Evelyn - Died on December 10, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences
Centre. Born on December 22, 1910, in Lower L'Ardoise, Cape Breton, she
was a daughter of Passia and Mary Landry. She is survived by her sons,
Daniel (Karen), Patrick (Barbara), Roy (Joan) and Lawrence (Fay);
grandchildren, David, Kevin, Peter, Gillian, Brenda, Jeffrey, Andrew,
Michael, Darlene, and Shawn; four great grandchildren. She is also
survived by her sisters, Jane McGrath and Genevieve Adamsson. She was
predeceased by her husband, Henry Joseph Landry; daughter, Lorraine, and
grandson, Patrick; several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home on Bayers Road, Halifax.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, at 10 a.m. in
St. Stephen's Church, Normandy Drive, Halifax. Following the mass, a
reception will be held for family and friends in the church hall.
Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

LANDRY, W. Alfred - 76, Rockdale, died August 16, 2006 at home. He was a
son of the late James and Elizabeth (David) Landry. He was retired from
Richmond Villa where he worked for 15 years, and prior to that was
employed with R.M. Landry and Sons Ltd. and Frank's Fuels. Alfred had a
great love of children and music, especially when his family were the
entertainers. He will always be remembered for his caring demeanor. He
is survived by his wife of 44 years, Leona; nephews, Herman (Lucxann)
and Billy MacDonald, both of Rockdale; grandnephews, Joey (Chantel),
Jason (Alisha); grandnieces, Melissa (Daniel) and Tara;
great-grandnieces, Jenna, Tessa, Gracie and Chloe, along with many other
nieces and nephews; brothers, Leo (Marie), Rockdale; Amable (Mona),
Sydney, and sister, Della Stone, St. Peters. Resting Sunday from 2-4 and
7-9 p.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor. Funeral mass will be
offered Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church in
L'Ardoise with Rev. Barrett Claire Johnson presiding. Burial in the

LeRUE, Joseph Allister "Lester" - 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
February 20, 2007, in Richmond Villa, St. Peter's. Born in L'Ardoise,
Lester was a son of the late Elias and Tena (Grant) LeRue. A kind and
gentle individual, Lester enjoyed the company of many friends,
especially along the garbage route where he worked for a number of years
with Ralph Martell. He also held a special affection for any animal,
especially dogs. He is survived by brothers, Gordon (Shirley) and Ronald
(Rene), both of L'Ardoise; sisters, Mary Burton (Peter Poirier), New
Brunswick; Rose, L'Adoise; numerous nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by brothers, Jackie and Herbie. Visitation for the late
Lester LeRue will be today and Friday, February 23, from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. in L'Ardoise Parish Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be
Saturday, February 24, at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church,
L'Ardoise, Rev. Barrett Clare-Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers,

LIGHTIZER, Edward Jeffrey - 87, L'Ardoise, passed away peacefully at
home on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Born in L'Ardoise on December 9, 1919,
he was a son of the late William and Mary (Sampson) Lightizer. Edward
was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 110, L'Ardoise. A
veteran of the Second World War, Edward proudly displayed his many war
service medals at every opportunity. He would often go into the schools
to bring history alive with his presence and stories of the war. Edward
revisited Holland on several occasions where he was always received with
warmth and admiration for his contribution towards their freedom. He
spent several more years in Europe after the war and then worked on the
survey boats until he retired. Edward was predeceased by brother,
George, and sisters, Florence Marcoux, Dot Harris, Mildred Mombourquette,
and Elizabeth "Betty" Sampson. Surviving are brothers, Cornelius
(Janine), Dartmouth; Arthur (Margaret), Lower Sackville; sister, Marina
(A.B. Inglis), Halifax, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly
missed by all, including his brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Richard
Sampson. Cremation has taken place. Visitation Monday, July 30 from 12-9
p.m. in L'Ardoise Funeral Home. Funeral services Tuesday, July 31, at 10
a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church. Burial to follow in L'Ardoise
parish cemetery, Rev. Barrett Clare Johnson officiating. Donations in

LANDRY, Donald George - 1947-2008. It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Don Landry on March 12, 2008, in Montreal, Que.,
after a lengthy battle with illness. He was predeceased by his parents,
Leonard and Serena (Peters) Landry. He is survived by his brothers,
Cyril (Kaye), Joe (Rita), Gerry (Helen), Rick (Marge); his sister,
Sharon (Thanasis), and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews. He will be deeply missed. Visitation took place in Les
Salons Funéraires Guay from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, and will be
held again from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today. A service will be in Holy
Family Parish, 1001 Oka Rd., Deux-Montagnes, on Saturday, March 15.
Reception to follow in Holy Family Hall.
