EVONG, Emma Frances-92, West L'Ardoise, Richmond Co., died 12 October, 1992, in Richmond Villa, St.Peter's, Richmond Co. Born in West L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Angelique(Burkey)Taylor. She is survived by a daughter, Sophie Beatrice (Mrs.Fred C.Bona), West L'Ardoise; two sisters, Joan Briand, Sophie Landry, both of Halifax; brother, James, West L'Ardoise; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; two sons, Louis Alex, Richard Albert; sister Mary Jane; three brothers, Helair, Fred, Willie. The body is in L'Ardoise Community Funeral Home, visiting 10am to 10pm today. Funeral will be 2pm Wednesday in Holy Guardian Angel Roman Catholic Church, L'Ardoise, Rev. MacLellan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery Fund or L'Ardoise Community Funeral Home Fund. Arrangements under the direction of C.H.Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.

EVONG, Ann - 84, formerly of L'Ardoise, died July 15, 1995, in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born in L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late James and Catherine (Lannon) Evong. Surviving are a sister, Nellie MacLean, Ontario; brothers, Bill, Finley, L'Ardoise. She was predeceased by an infant sister, Ellen; brothers, Pat, Tom, Murdick, Martin, Jim, Francis. Funeral 10 a.m. today in Holy Guardian Angel Church, L'Ardoise, Rev. Robert Donnelly officiating. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Alex A. EVONG, Melinda Sampson - 83, Northwood Centre, Halifax, passed away June 24, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born December 16, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Victoria Sampson. She is survived by her husband, Finley Frederick Evong; three sisters and three brothers, Beatrice (John) Martell, Rockdale; Alice (Alonzo) Sampson, L'Ardoise; Mary (Lawrence) Martell, John (Donna) Sampson, Rockdale; Pat (Edna) Sampson, Halifax; Helaire (Marion) Sampson, Dartmouth. Predeceased by two brothers, Fred (Evelyn) Sampson, Harry (Velda) Sampson. Surviving are seven sons and four daughters, Finley (Alice) Evong, Sackville; Allan (Sybil) Evong, Porters Lake; Marlene (Bernard) Shea, Bernard (Jean) Evong, Sackville; Barbara Anne (Hans) Granberg, Calgary; Gerard Evong, Wayne (Mary) Evong, Sackville; Gloria (Karsten) Martell, Halifax; Dawn (Bill) MacDougall, Calgary; Leo Longaphy, Francis (Cecil) Longaphy, Sackville. Predeceased by her daughter, Diane (Graham) Conrad, Colby Village, on August 28, 1996. Surviving are 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements entrusted to L'Ardoise Parish Funeral Home, L'Ardoise, Richmond Co. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, June 26. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, in Holy Guardian Angels Church, L'Ardoise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Church, L'Ardoise.

Born in Lower L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Edmond and Sophie (Martell) Sampson. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and was an active CWL member for many years. Surviving are daughters, Catherine (Kay) MacLellan, Sydney; sons, Edmond and wife Viola, with whom she resided; stepson, Brian, Edmonton, Alta.; sister, Mary-Alice Darveaux, Quebec; brothers, Tom Sampson, Sydney; Fred Mombourquette, New Glasgow; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; brothers, John, Simon, Cornelius, Albert; sister, Mary-Sabine Evong; daughter, Stella Marie in infancy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Augustine Church, Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl; sisters, Margaret MacEvoy, Agnes Campbell, Anita and Genevive, both in infancy; brothers, Paul, Felix. Surviving are wife, the former Sherry Jollota; daughters, Danielle and Yolanda, both at home; sons, Joshua and Mathieu, both at home; brother, Michael (Colleen); stepmother, Karen, L'Ardoise; father-in-law, Fred (Evelyn) Jollota, Halifax. He was predeceased by brother, Marty. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel (main level). Funeral mass 2 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, Rev. Dan MacDonald officiating. He was born in L'Ardoise, son of the late Edward and Catherine (Lannon) Evong. He worked in Halifax as a longshoreman for 51 years and retired at 65. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Melinda Margaret (Sampson); daughter, Diane Sharon Conrad; son-in-law, Hans Granberg; grandsons, Derek Graham Conrad and Scott Bradley Evong; brothers, Martin, Thomas, Murdock, James and Francis; sisters, Nellie and Anna. He is survived by brother, William "Bill" Evong; daughters, Dawn (Bill) MacDougall, Barb Granberg, Calgary; Gloria (Karsten Roren) Martell, Halifax; Marlene (Bernie) Shea, Lower Sackville; sons, Wayne (Mary), Gerard, Bernie (Jean), Finley (Alice), Lower Sackville; Allan (Sybil), Porters Lake; stepsons, Francis (Cecile) Longaphy and Leo Longaphy, Lower Sackville; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. EVONG (Briand), Johna "Jonie" - 89, Rockdale, Richmond Co., Cape Breton, passed away peacefully in Northwood Centre, Halifax, January 12, 2007. She was born in Rockdale, daughter of the late James and Mary (Rançon) Briand. She was well-loved and survived by her children, Monica, James (Linda), Elaine, Ronnie, Sharon Kelly (Denis), Joan (Pat Garagan), all of Halifax/Dartmouth, and Jean Kruger (Mike), Lantz; sister, Bertha (Wilbert) Martell, Montreal, Que., and brother, George (Irene), Summerside, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Rachel, Donna, Donna, Sheri, Billy, Renee, Darrick, Shane, Amanda and Kristen, and great-grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Caitlin, Brandon and Olivia. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Evong; sisters, Philomene, Virginie and Winnie; brothers, Fred, Thomas, Charles and Stanley. Special thanks to the staff at Northwood, especially the good people on 4 Centre for their care and comfort to our mom. Family wish to thank Nelda Cotie for her friendship and support. Special thanks to staff of Richmond Villa, St. Peter's. Visitation will take place at Holy Guardian Angel Parish in L'Ardoise on Sunday, January 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on January 15, with burial following in the parish cemetery.
