Page 4

The photos found on the following pages will I trust rekindle memories of people, places and things that were, and are, dear to our hearts. Though "they" may be gone, the pages that follow attest to the fact "they" are not forgotten.

I thank you, one and all, for sharing your precious photos. If anyone should recognize an un-named person, in one of the following photos, please forward his or her name.

AlbertMombourquette.jpg (230492 bytes)

The next 5 photos were sent to me from David Tremblay, , grandson of Eve Mombourquette b. Sept 21, 1901. Thank you David for sharing these photos.

Left is a photo of Eve's Brother, Albert Mombourquette. In the background appears to be the spire of the old Holy Guardian Angels Church. If anyone can verify the location of this picture, it would be greatly appreciated.

GrGreveschool.jpg (245782 bytes)

This wrinkled photo is of the Grand Greve School. Eve Mombourquette treasured this photo. In David's words..."It just goes to show how important teachers are...that my grandmother hung on to this little scrap of a photo..."

Mombourquettefamily.jpg (252841 bytes)

Left is a photo of Bill Mombourquette, Thomas Desire Mombourquette (my great grandfather), Muriel (Mombourquette) Flood, Dennis Mombourquette and Gloria Flood.

MotorMom.jpg (142656 bytes)

Sarah Mombourquette in side-car of motorcycle in which my grandmother emigrated to U.S. With two un-identified fellows. License plate reads C2451 19/21.

David wrote, "I was never told why my grandmother emigrated to the States. There is a story she rode from CBI in the side car of her brother's motorcycle. I guess she wanted to get in on the roaring 20's but later found her self stuck in the Great Depression."

Sara and Lal.jpg (86778 bytes)

In this photo we see Sarah Mombourquette (b. July 20, 1861) (David Tremblay's great-grandmother) with her daughter Elizabeth "Lal" (Mombourquette) Pettipas (b. Nov 1, 1892) and grand-daughter, Marge (Pettipas) Fuller.
circa 1922. (all deceased)

Elizabeth PreJean.jpg (123201 bytes)

This photo is from Ron Frazier (Fougere). In his own words.....
One of my objectives is to find a photograph of my grandmother, Elizabeth Genivieve Prejean, at a young age. The earliest photo I have of her is enclosed. She was born on 4 September 1870, to Isaie Prejean and Sara Mombourquette, in Lower L'Ardoise. Isaie was born 8 Nov 1832, and Sara was born 15 Aug 1840. Elizabeth was married to Frederic Forest from Arachat, in East Boston, Massachusetts. I would be delighted to find photos of Elizabeth, Isaie or Sara.

Here is an early picture of Grand Pre contributed by Melvin Touesnard.

From Stephanie Doary, Here is the Dec 22, 1942 article from the Halifax Herald on the passing of Judique (Rancon) Dorey, wife of George William Dorey.

From Stephanie Doary
This is a photo of Great-grandpa & Grandma Dore (Peter John Dore and Marie Bertha nee DeCoste). Look at the smile on Great Grandma's face.... Everett (Doary) had his grandfather's stance. I can just picture him, shoulders back, proud Caper and Canadian. Alice did not have a date for this picture but it must have been after a special occasion or after mass. Notice the chain on the tie and the diamond socks., the heels on grandma's shoes.....I would guess that it is taken in the late 30ies, early 40ies.
